Absinthe can untether jailbreak your iPhone 4S on both iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 But it only jailbreaks the iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1

How To Jailbreak iPhone 4S/iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1 using Absinthe [Windows]?

Step 1: Download Absinthe for Windows.

Step 2: Unzip the file > Right Click on “absinthe.exe” and Hit “Run as administrator”

Step 3: Plug your iPhone 4S / iPad 2 to the USB cable.

Step 4: After Absinthe recognizes your device hit “Jailbreak”

Jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 2 Untethered 5.0.1 On Windows Using CLI

Here's how you can jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 2 untethered 5.0.1 firmware on Windows. We will be using the advanced CLI tool that has been released for both Windows and Mac computers. Absinthe GUI is only available for Mac right now.

Earlier today the Chronic Dev Team released Absinthe jailbreak tool. This new and surprisingly easy jailbreak tool lets you jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 2 untethered by just clicking one button. For more advanced users, the iPhone Dev Team released CLI tool. It is command line based and is likely to freak out most new jailbreakers. Since Absinthe for Windows has not been released it, we can only use CLI tool to jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 2 untethered on Windows.

The iPhone 4S can be jailbroken untethered on both iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 firmware whereas the iPad 2 can only be jailbroken untethered on iOS 5.0.1. Make sure that you have properly updated your devices and have created a backup in iTunes before proceeding with this. Remove passcode lock from your device as well.

Once again, CLI tool is meant for advanced users. There's a chance that you will mess things up if you're not exactly sure of what you're doing. We will teach you the whole process in the simplest way possible, but its up to you if you want to jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 2 untethered on Windows right now or wait until Absinthe for Windows is released.

How To Jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 2 Untethered 5.0.1 On Windows Using CLI:

Step 1: Download CLI 0.4.3 for Windows and unzip the package in root directory, where Windows is installed, such as C:

Step 2: Go to Start menu and click on Run

Step 3: Type CMD.exe

Step 4: Type without quotes: "CD C:\cinject_0.4.3" and press enter

Step 5: Execute command: "cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig" [Execute command means write in CMD.exe what's written inside quotes, without quote signs]

Step 6: Approve Install request on your device. Next > Next > Finish, no need to enter password

Step 7: Execute command: "cinject.exe -j payloads" Wait for backup

Step 8: Execute command: "cinject.exe -w"

Step 9: Run Absinthe app from device Home screen. If you get error establishing database connection error then launch Settings.app on your device and turn on VPN settings

Download the latest version of Absinthe from :

Step Two

Double click to extract the downloaded archive and launch the Absinthe application.

Jailbreaking ‘Dream Team’ Unites For The Illusive Untethered Jailbreak Of iPhone 4S and iPad 2

I woke up this morning, collected my iPhone from my bedside table and opened up my favorite Twitter application to browse through my timeline, just like I do every morning. Some tweet I skip past, some I briefly chuckle at, and others I take a vested interest in for one reason or another.

One tweet in particular peaked my interest this morning, come from Chronic Dev Team member Joshua Hill (a.k.a @p0sixninja). I won’t repeat the choice language used in the tweet, but even though it only consisted of two words, it was evident that the famous iOS developer was experiencing difficulties with the Apple Sandbox.

There didn’t seem to be any follow up tweets so I thought no more of it. That was until iOS developer pod2g published an update on his official blog with the title ‘Sandbox Difficulties’. One thing he is amazingly good at is keeping the community updated on the work involved, and the progress made in the development of the current batch of jailbreaks, and this latest post does not disappoint. If you haven’t read the post,you can follow the link to check it out, but it basically is a courtesy update to inform the public that work is continuing.

Owners of the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 were understandably a little disappointed when pod2g collaborated with the Chronic Dev and iPhone Dev Teams to release the recent Corona jailbreak for A4 devices which allows an untethered jailbreak for those older devices running iOS 5.0.1. Unfortunately at the time, although an untethered jailbreak is technically possible for these devices, the teams had found no distributable way of packaging it together and were still hunting for an exploitable bug.

Hopefully with the latest blog post comes a light at the end of the tunnel for those users anxiously awaiting A5 liberation. iPhone Dev Team leader MuscleNerd is better known for his baseband hacks and provider of the RedSn0w and Ultrasn0w tools has been confirmed to be lending his expertise on the project. He is joined by one of the co-creators of the Greenpois0n tool and leader of the Chronic Dev Team, Joshua Hill, who has worked alongside pod2g for years in the field of iPhone security research.

Perhaps the most exciting thing to come out of the blog post however, is the confirmation that legendary hacker, PlanetBeing is also working with the team to produce this jailbreak. PlanetBeing is widely regarded as one of the most talented developer to ever be involved in the iOS community, alongside the brilliant George Hotz. Fingers crossed that this ‘Dream Team’ will be able to inject their magic and produce an A5 jailbreak for those patient iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners.
